Our thyroid panel goes beyond a basic TSH check. We measure all three key markers — TSH, Free T3, and Free T4 — to distinguish between hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, subclinical disease, and pituitary dysfunction.

TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)

The most sensitive marker for thyroid dysfunction. Elevated TSH suggests an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism); suppressed TSH indicates overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). Normal: 0.4–4.0 mIU/L.

Free T4 (Thyroxine)

The main hormone produced by the thyroid. Low FT4 with high TSH confirms hypothyroidism. High FT4 with low TSH confirms hyperthyroidism. Essential for treatment decisions and monitoring.

Take Thyroid Meds AFTER the Test

If you take levothyroxine (e.g., Eltroxin), take it AFTER your blood draw — not before. Taking it prior can temporarily lower TSH and misrepresent your true level.

Biotin Supplements — Pause 48h

High-dose biotin (Vitamin B7) significantly interferes with thyroid assays, causing falsely low TSH and high T4. Stop supplementing 48 hours before your test.
