What usually causes this

Anaemia

Very common, especially in women. Causes lightheadedness and breathlessness on exertion.

Low blood pressure on standing

Common in heat and with dehydration, and with some medications.

Low blood sugar

Particularly in people on diabetes medication, or after long gaps without food.

Inner ear problems

True spinning sensation, often with nausea, usually settles with treatment.

Heart rhythm problems

Less common but important — dizziness with palpitations needs assessment.
