Which Test Do I Actually Need?

People often arrive asking for a specific test they have heard about. It is usually more efficient to describe the symptom and let the panel be chosen around it.

Start with the question, not the test

Tiredness and weakness

Full blood count first — anaemia is the commonest cause in Nigeria. Blood sugar and thyroid function if it persists.

Fever

Malaria and typhoid testing, with a full blood count. A negative malaria test is useful information, not a dead end.

Burning urination or discharge

Urinalysis and a swab. An STI panel where there is any risk of exposure.

Trying to conceive

AMH and a pelvic scan for her; a semen analysis for him. Testing one partner only wastes months.

Before marriage

Genotype, blood group, hepatitis B and C, HIV and VDRL — the standard premarital panel.

Common questions

Can you just tell me what to book?

Yes — message us with the symptom and we will tell you the shortest route to an answer.

Is a general health check better?

If you have no specific symptom, a screening package covers more ground efficiently.

What if my test comes back normal?

That is useful — it rules things out and directs where to look next.

Do I need every test on the form?

No. More tests is not better testing.

Still not sure?

Message us and we will answer directly. No form, nothing stored on this site.
