Abnormal does not mean serious
Reference ranges are set so that a proportion of healthy people fall outside them. A value slightly outside range, with no symptoms, frequently means nothing at all.
The pattern matters more than the number
One borderline value in isolation is weak evidence. Several pointing the same way, or a value that has changed from your last test, carries far more weight.
Repeat before you react
Dehydration, recent illness, a heavy meal and the time of day all shift results. Many abnormal values normalise on a repeat sample.
When it genuinely is urgent
Very low haemoglobin, very high blood sugar, a markedly abnormal kidney result, or any abnormal result with symptoms — these need same-day attention rather than a repeat.

Should I search my result online?
Understanding it is reasonable. Diagnosing yourself from a single number is where it goes wrong.
Will you call me if something is wrong?
Yes. Abnormal results are reviewed and we contact you.
Can I send you my result from another lab?
Yes — send it on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether it needs an appointment.
How soon should I repeat it?
Depends on the test. We advise when we review it.
