Most routine tests: same day
Full blood count, malaria, blood sugar, genotype and basic chemistry are typically ready the same day when the sample is taken in the morning.
Cultures take longer, and cannot be rushed
A urine, swab or blood culture needs organisms to grow before anything can be read — typically 3 to 5 days. This is biology, not delay, and a culture reported faster than that has not finished growing.
Hormone and specialised panels
Usually 2 to 3 days depending on the panel.
What affects the timing
Sample timing matters most. A sample taken late in the afternoon may run the following morning. Fasting tests taken in the morning turn around fastest.

A doctor reviews it and we contact you with what it means and what to do.
Can results be same-day if I come in the afternoon?
