What Mascot Healthcare Is

Mascot Healthcare is a by appointment primary care clinic at 52 Sholanke Street, Off Chemist Junction, Akoka, Lagos. We are not a specialist hospital. We are not an HMO facility. We are a doctor-led, professionally staffed primary care clinic that sees patients for the full breadth of everyday medical needs — and does so on the same day, by appointment, at transparent prices.

Our location in Akoka places us at the heart of one of Lagos's most densely populated university and residential communities — directly serving students, academics, and residents from UNILAG, Akoka, Yaba, Shomolu, Bariga, and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Our Clinical Scope

• General primary care: Fever, infections, malaria, typhoid, respiratory illness, skin conditions, gastrointestinal complaints, chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension)
• Diagnostic ultrasound: Pelvic, obstetric (all trimesters), abdominal, prostate, breast, thyroid, scrotal, musculoskeletal — 13+ scan types with written reports
• Laboratory medicine: 28 tests covering haematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, serology, and endocrinology — most results
• Women's health: Gynaecological primary care, menstrual disorders, cervical screening (VIA and Pap smear), STI testing, contraception, IUD fitting, antenatal monitoring
• Men's health: Sexual health, STI testing, prostate assessment (PSA + scan), testosterone evaluation, erectile dysfunction, infertility workup
• Minor procedures: Wound care and suturing, abscess drainage, IV drip therapy, ear wax removal, steroid injections, acne treatment

Our Standards

Test before treating. The most fundamental clinical principle we apply — and the most commonly violated in Lagos primary care. Every prescription at Mascot Healthcare is preceded by an appropriate investigation. We do not prescribe antimalarials without a malaria RDT. We do not prescribe antibiotics for gonorrhoea without a swab. We do not prescribe thyroid medication without a TSH test.

Explain everything. Patient education is not optional — it is part of the consultation. A patient who understands their diagnosis, their medication, and their follow-up plan is a patient who complies with treatment and achieves better outcomes. Our doctors allocate the time this requires.

Price what we say. Every price at Mascot Healthcare is fixed, published, and non-negotiable. There are no hidden fees, no variation based on perceived ability to pay, and no additional charges not disclosed before a procedure or test begins.

All medical doctors are registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and practising with a current licence. Our laboratory officers are registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
