Which one is right for you?
Essential
A routine check, a check before marriage or a new relationship, or if you only want blood tests. It doesn't test for chlamydia or gonorrhoea, the most common STIs that cause discharge.
Comprehensive
Our most chosen package. Pick it if you've had unprotected sex or a new partner, or you have discharge, burning when you pass urine, or pelvic pain.
Full Wellness
Everything in Comprehensive, plus a herpes 1 and 2 blood test. Pick it if you've had sores or blisters, or you want the widest check we offer.
Testing for one infection
You can also test for a single infection, such as trichomoniasis, which isn't in any package. See the list below.
How the swab tests work
For chlamydia and gonorrhoea, a swab is taken from the vagina or cervix (women) or the urethra (men) and tested at the clinic, with results the same day.
We test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea with rapid antigen swab tests. We don't do NAAT or PCR tests. Rapid swab tests are quick, but less sensitive than NAAT, so if your result is negative and your symptoms carry on, see the doctor.
When to test after sex
Some infections take time to show up on a test. Testing too early can give a false negative.
- Chlamydia and gonorrhoea: from about 2 weeks after sex.
- Syphilis: from about 3 to 6 weeks.
- HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C: a negative result is most reliable 3 months after the exposure. If it's been less than that, test now and again at 3 months.
- Herpes blood test: antibodies can take 3 to 4 months to show.
Had unprotected sex or a condom break in the last 72 hours? HIV prevention medicine (PEP) works best started as soon as possible. Go to a hospital or HIV treatment centre today. We don't handle emergencies.
