Vaginal infection FAQs

How much is vaginal infection treatment in Lagos?
Consultation at Mascot Healthcare, Akoka costs from ₦5,000. A vaginal swab is taken at the same visit. Most treatments (antibiotics or antifungals) are available by prescription and at most pharmacies in Lagos.
Why can't I just buy antifungal cream from the pharmacy?
You can — if you have a clear, first-time yeast infection. But BV (which can feel identical) requires a different antibiotic, not an antifungal. Self-treating BV with antifungal cream will not work and delays the correct treatment. A swab takes 2 minutes and gives certainty.
My infection keeps coming back every month. What's wrong?
Recurrent vaginal infections (more than 4 per year) have specific causes — diabetes (makes you prone to thrush), an untreated STI, an untreated BV in the partner, or reduced immunity. Come in for a full assessment including blood sugar test.
