Ring-shaped, scaly, itchy rash on the body — spreads outward with central clearing. Not caused by worms — by a dermatophyte fungus. Treated with topical antifungal (clotrimazole, miconazole) for 2–4 weeks. Extensive infections need oral terbinafine or fluconazole.
Pale or darkened patches on the chest, back, and shoulders — caused by Malassezia yeast. More noticeable on dark skin. Treated with selenium sulfide shampoo or topical/oral antifungal.
Scaly, itchy patches on the scalp — often with broken hair and bald spots. Common in children. Requires oral antifungal (griseofulvin or terbinafine) — topical treatment alone doesn't work for scalp ringworm.
