Blood group and genotype are often required together — for pre-marital screening, NYSC medicals, and pregnancy care. We perform both in a single blood draw at our Lagos laboratory.
Standard blood group typing identifies your ABO group (A, B, AB, O) and Rhesus status (positive or negative). Critical for blood transfusions, surgery, and — for Rh-negative pregnant women — monitoring for Rh incompatibility with the foetus.
Genotyping by haemoglobin electrophoresis identifies your haemoglobin variant: AA (normal), AS (sickle cell trait), SS (sickle cell disease), AC, or SC. Two AS parents have a 25% chance of an SS child with every pregnancy — knowing your genotype before marriage enables informed family planning.
Lagos employers, NYSC, hospitals, and immigration authorities routinely require documented blood group and genotype results. Our laboratory reports are accepted nationwide and include the clinic's stamp, date, and signatory details.
Neither blood group typing nor haemoglobin electrophoresis requires fasting. You can eat, drink, and take medications normally before your visit. Walk in at any point during our Lagos laboratory's operating hours.
If you have been previously genotyped or blood-grouped and need a fresh official result, bring your prior result if available. Note: if you have received a blood transfusion recently, inform us — transfused blood can temporarily alter results.
Blood group typing is completed in the laboratory within the hour and reported the same day. Genotype by haemoglobin electrophoresis takes 24–48 hours. Both results are available for collection or electronic delivery.
A sickling test only identifies SS; it cannot distinguish AS from AA. We perform full electrophoresis to give you a complete and accurate genotype across all variants.
Our results are printed on official laboratory paper with stamp and signature — accepted by Lagos NYSC orientation camps, hospitals, courts, and immigration offices.
